Hi,

Does anyone know the location of the CNJ/1071? Thanks for your help.

The 1071 is parked in Mahoning yard in Alliance, Ohio with no train or crew.

Is that the old yard by the station and diamond area downtown?

Mahoning yard is south (railroad east) of the Amtrak station on the Cleveland Line.
The 1071 is facing east, paired up with NS 1040.

You want to go down Mahoning Road, and there's this little gravel street called "Auld". You'll be able to see NS 1040; NS 1071 is hidden by some trees. But once you go down Auld, he comes into sight. He's in walking distance and you can get some pretty decent photos. Such as mine (below). Good luck guys!

Great, thanks Cindy. How long do the engines usually lay over? Would they still be there this afternoon/evening?

Well, he was left there overnight, coupled with NS 1040. His train is currently loading down in the Kensington Mines. If you wanna go tonight, he'll be there. The lighting is perfect too.

The two locomotives will be left there until there train is loaded at the Kensington Prep Plant; then those two units will be called back to pickup there train and go...

Train has been recrewed and is on the move east towards the coal plant. They will be working at the coal plant for an hour. Dispatcher gave an authority to work in one direction, so there may be a train that could meet them somewhere down the line. The dispatcher said that the train is ultimately a westbound, which will leave the CNJ a trailing unit. Reason why the power was put at Mahoning yard is due to the coal plant getting longer cars than usual, so there was no room for the power down in the plant.

Thanks everyone for the updates. You saved me a trip! Would the routing back be PRR-Cleveland Line to NYC-Chicago line?

"He"? Is he one of the Jersey Boys? Interestingly, others have called this locomotive "Miss Liberty" or "Jersey Girl."

Doesn't matter to me one way or the other. It's amusing how people assign different names and genders to this locomotive.

Are the units still there or not?

A crew got on it about 3pm and became 552 and headed East on the Bayard to pick up the loaded train at Kinsington Mine. They said they would be back in Alliance about 530 or 6pm. 1071 will be in trail.

FEC is he planning on running the CLE Line back up?
