Does anyone know the location of the CNJ/1071? Thanks for your help. Date: 08/17/12 09:03 Re: CNJ/NS 1071 Author: Poker2662 The 1071 is parked in Mahoning yard in Alliance, Ohio with no train or crew.
Date: 08/17/12 09:05 Re: CNJ/NS 1071 Author: WLE2679 Thanks Matt.
Is that the old yard by the station and diamond area downtown? Date: 08/17/12 09:12 Re: CNJ/NS 1071 Author: Poker2662 Mahoning yard is south (railroad east) of the Amtrak station on the Cleveland Line.
The 1071 is facing east, paired up with NS 1040. Date: 08/17/12 09:13 Re: CNJ/NS 1071 Author: CynthiaLuther You want to go down Mahoning Road, and there's this little gravel street called "Auld". You'll be able to see NS 1040; NS 1071 is hidden by some trees. But once you go down Auld, he comes into sight. He's in walking distance and you can get some pretty decent photos. Such as mine (below). Good luck guys!

Date: 08/17/12 09:38 Re: CNJ/NS 1071 Author: CynthiaLuther Well, he was left there overnight, coupled with NS 1040. His train is currently loading down in the Kensington Mines. If you wanna go tonight, he'll be there. The lighting is perfect too.
Cindy Luther Canton, OH Date: 08/17/12 11:09 Re: CNJ/NS 1071 Author: Forever-Railfan-45 The two locomotives will be left there until there train is loaded at the Kensington Prep Plant; then those two units will be called back to pickup there train and go...
Date: 08/17/12 11:28 Re: CNJ/NS 1071 Author: im_trainman Train has been recrewed and is on the move east towards the coal plant. They will be working at the coal plant for an hour. Dispatcher gave an authority to work in one direction, so there may be a train that could meet them somewhere down the line. The dispatcher said that the train is ultimately a westbound, which will leave the CNJ a trailing unit. Reason why the power was put at Mahoning yard is due to the coal plant getting longer cars than usual, so there was no room for the power down in the plant.

Doesn't matter to me one way or the other. It's amusing how people assign different names and genders to this locomotive. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/17/12 13:34 by RuleG. Date: 08/17/12 14:22 Re: CNJ/NS 1071 Author: FEC2000 A crew got on it about 3pm and became 552 and headed East on the Bayard to pick up the loaded train at Kinsington Mine. They said they would be back in Alliance about 530 or 6pm. 1071 will be in trail.
