Eastern Railroad Discussion > A nice autumn morning in Elkhart, IN

After an all night drive from western KY and a short nap Dave and I were ready to enjoy a beautiful fall day and chase some trains. We took our nap right across from the run-through service rack on the north side of the yard and were ready to go at first light.

1. NS 8351 East gets a fresh crew while the power gets serviced.

2. NS 9292 starts off a short eastbound pig parade.

3. NS 8390 leads another herd of pigs headed east.

4. 8390 East again.

5. With a fresh crew 8351 starts it's journey east. We'll see this one later.

6. & 7. A rolling meet between an eastbound manifest and a westbound coal train.

8. NS 8351 continues it's journey east.

Looks like everyone in the first photo has on the same color/type of pants. NS making crews wear an approved uniform? I do doubt that, but it kinda looks like it.

We went to the Marshmallow Festival in Ligonier once.
I watched a bigwheel race.
