Eastern Railroad Discussion > EMD's model F125Date: 03/12/13 09:35 EMD's model F125 Author: gouldj Inside cover of the current Railway Age magazine has an artist's rendering of EMD's new passenger unit, the F125. It is a nice full page ad featuring the unit with a 4700hp tier 4 Cat engine.

Fabricated trucks. FUGLY. Date: 03/12/13 10:15 Re: EMD's model F125 Author: cr2581 There hasn't been an aesthetically pleasing passenger locomotive built since the F40PH ....... and I remember those being criticised for "looks" as well .....

Jay Date: 03/12/13 11:17 Re: EMD's model F125 Author: zephyrus I wouldn't go by that image much. I am sure a lot of the details will change. Still, looking at the overall shape, it is a lot better than some other recent passenger concepts I have seen. Looks like EMD is trying to give it a semblance of a nose. The proportions seem good. I think the detailing will end up making or breaking this one for me.

Substitute "E9" for "F40PH". Date: 03/12/13 13:45 Re: EMD's model F125 Author: Alexmarissa It's reminiscent of the HST Class 43 locos that have been running in the UK since the early 1970's. They've been operating at 125 MPH since the early 1970's too.

Or substitute "SDP40F/F40C" for "F40PH". It's certainly not like other transportation sales outfits where one could find numerous models and variations of trucks, etc
