Here are 2 photos of the track work taking place on the CSX in Auburndale Florida as of the 5 of November 2013 taking from the Hwy 92 overpass. It looks like they are adding a set of "mainline speed" switches to the wye. There has been a lot of track work in the area to support the new Winter Haven Intermodal Terminal. The first picture is looking east at the line from Orlando the second is looking south at the line heading to the Intermodal Terminal.

Here are some pictures taken at Pollard Rd just north of the Intermodal Terminal. The first is looking north and the other is looking south.

I thought the line to Orlando was being sold and the new terminal would be accessed from the S-Line. Is that not the case?

I was wondering the same thing.All that traffic would
run the S line to Vitis then A line to Auburndale
via Lakeland.

So what is all this about?

The line from orlando was sold for sunrail but only to pointsetta from sanford and csx retained the rights to alow freight trains on the line to service there customers plus they interchange with florida central and yelvington in orlando by the train station.Also there is a coal train that uses that track to get to the power plant of the 528.This is the best to my knowledge.

Interesting, but that would be Poinciana, not Poinsetta...

Orlando will still get rock train traffic off the Miami side. That northernmost A-Line to Can yard connection is a switching lead for the yard, presumably to keep yard traffic off the new connection track there. There is also a full set of crossovers going in south of Derby Avenue.

The changes down at Pollard Road are breathtaking.

When will the ramp open? I keep hearing different dates,

The target opening is April 2014.

Here are 2 more photos of the track work taking place on the CSX in Auburndale Florida as of the 13th of November 2013 taking from the Hwy 92 overpass. The new main line switch has been installed in the southbound track heading to the Intermodal Terminal. The ballast has been applied to the new Can Yard lead.

The first picture is looking east at the line from Orlando the second is looking south at the line heading to the Intermodal Terminal.

They are also replacing the warning lights with crossing gates.
