JAMES E. STRATES CARNIVAL TRAIN – 08/20/2014
We have received word that Norfolk Southern is unable to accept the JES Carnival Train until Wednesday (20 August 2014).

Buffalo Southern will begin assembling the consist at 08:00 AM EDT Wednesday.

After completing the standard air brake test, they will haul the train to Buffalo, NY and hand it off to Norfolk Southern.

Scheduled departure from Buffalo, NY on Norfolk Southern System to be determined (TBD) by operating/transportation officials involved with the Strates Train movement.

I thought it never came back south until after Labor Day?

Where is it going on the NS? Down the Youngstown Line to Conway or over the Southern Tier to Binghamton, NY?

It used to be tied up at the NY State Fair over Labor Day weekend. Looks like they lost that gig?

That's where I'm at. I guess they will haul everything
to the fairgrounds via truck since the tracks are not
close by?

'Could be. When they get to Pittsylvania County Fair (near Danville, Va.), the rail-head on the former Southern Railway (NS now) at Ringgold, Va. is located several miles from the Fairgrounds site, and they drive everything from that end-of-track point on NS to the display site over narrow, rural back roads -- so your area's lack of rail connection may not be as great an issue as it sounds.
