An Intermodal Question
Author: ns1000

Hi everyone.

Has anyone else seen a car like this in the middle of a long stack train?? I would have to check my notes, but I think this is NS 23Z.

The latest yellow book I have is Jan 2013. I think the marks read GNWR 2166, which is an ex-intermodal flat an FC or P841 in there. But from your photo does not seem to have the hitches for trailers or brackets for containers that you normally see. The small stakes on the side do not condone intermodal use. I think it is an ex-intermodal flat used in general freight service that some RR computer mistook for an intermodal car based on the 'FC' or 'P841' still in the UMLER registry. Correct me if you know different.

UMLER shows car in pool assignment to Agent CW Railroad, Minnequa CO for steel loading at Evraz in Minnequa. Likely just a bad switch done somewhere - an all to common occurrence these days.
