[NS] What's up with that 67z on the Lurgan line?
Author: Lackawanna484

A few days ago there was a mention that a NS empty oil train (Linden NJ - Chicago - Bakken) had been routed south on the NS Lurgan line in Pennsylvania. That's an unusual path for a train which usually goes via Pittsburgh.

Has anybody seen this train, and noted the routing?

They also routed a Z5Z that way too. You asked about NS bypassing Chicago a couple days ago - maybe someone @ NS was paying attention to the discussion.

I have seen both 67Z and a Z5R on the Lurgan. It has been suggested that it is because of congestion on the Pittsburgh Line and the Altoona Derailment. I have no concrete reason though......

There was a 67Z that came down last night. Vardo in Hagerstown couldn't handle it so it sat in Chambersburg, PA for awhile. Well, the crew was about to run out of time so Vardo took it anyway.

Maybe. But I'm curious about how they routed it back to North Dakota

Any good idea will probably be tried out if it helps resolve the logjam in Indiana.
