About those freight cars in the Susquehanna River
Author: Pattenburg

Back on September 25th, dan7366 posted a question about a freight car in the Susquehanna River. Today's Lancaster (PA) has a story about not one but two freight cars that are in the river. It makes for some interesting reading but doesn't answer the question as to when did they get there?

The one that he supposes is a boxcar laying on its roof isn't a freight car at all. It's a bridge, eons ago (1930's I believe) when they were building one of the nearby dams, the Port Road was realigned to its present routing, and that bridge was overtaken by the lake created from the dam downstream.
