Back in the 1930s, B&O ran a mixed train from Washington DC out to Harpers Ferry and then south to Harrisonburg, using some rights over Southern Railway and much B&O track. Would this segment be part of that operation?

It was the B&O going to Lexington, VA. The Depression put it out of its misery.

Lack, I guess it depends on how you ask the question... yes, same right of way, just farther south, just south of Staunton, VA; and no, because the southern endpoint,Harrisonburg, is farther north... still, all in fun. Yes, you're in the right place.

Thanks very much. Would have been a great ride, even if it took a day and a half to travel the length.

A recent book by Bob Cohen titled "A trip in the Shenandoah Valley on the B&O and Southern Railway" has maps, photos, time tables and a lot of history, from Harpers Ferry to Lexington, VA. Book for sale by C&O Historical Society in Clifton Forge, VA

Hey, that's good info, last year the C&O Historical Society was at the Greenburg show in Richmond, VA so they may be there again in two weeks. I'll look for them, and the book! Thanks!

Rich
