A few snow shots from Harrisburg Saturday
Author: sscannella

Got out for a few photos later Saturday afternoon after a busy day; snow had been falling since mid-morning, and finally eased up a bit after midnight. First shot is the detoured 21E coming off the west end of Rockville Bridge a good 4+ hours late. Shortly behind him over on the Harrisburg side (Lucknow St) was late 21J on the siding, and following 21J west on the main was 19G. Lots of westbounds as it was starting to get dark, Amtrak 43 was coming west out of Harrisburg station late, 27N westbound out of Enola was waiting at CP-MARY, there was a 15J westbound rack train moving up to the pad after Amtrak and then an empty oil train (67?) coming off the Royalton Branch all in the picture, with 20W told to hold at CP-BANKS until the fleet of westbounds passed.

Boy how, this area has changed some over the years. There used to be a swimming pool, known as "Blue Mountain" there at you're last 2 shots. Went there with friends many a day. I do like how the view has opened up here tho. Shots from Linglestown Rd overpass are good too, as you probably know. There are others along N. 6th St that ya can get to, but those there where you're at are some of the better ones. And the one at the west end of Rockville Bridge, while I always found it abit challenging to get to, is another of my favorites from over the years. Boy how I miss my home town. Thanks for sharing. Ben

The pool I believe would be behind me, filled in many years ago, part of Stabler Park...spent a heck of a lot of time at the ball fields at the park coaching my son's and daughter's baseball and softball teams. I've been hitting the Lucknow St. location for over 20 years now, other than Stabler Co. removing the picnic table and the trees getting a bit taller, fortunately not much else has changed (was just there again today).

I played ball there a few times over the years. Yes the pool was more to the left and behind ya. But same area. I couldn't recall the street name for whatever reason, to me Lucknow, just didn't seem right. (Case of CRS here). But did visit the Bar/Restaurant that is in the lot there a few times thru the years til it went bye-bye. I don't know if you recall Sisco's Pizza there by the Susq. Twp Fire station, Rescue, if I recall correctly. Then there was Hattie Harris there by the corner on the HBG side of the I81 bridge. My favorite spot was on Allricks St, there behind the TV Station, WHTM ABC 27. Got some of my first shots from the old fence that was there back in 1972. Quite the place. Thanks for the memories.
