When You Have Spare Time...

Hi everyone.

....its nice to get out and watch trains (at least for me). Here are some of my highlights over the last month and a half or so.

Pic 1: On March 21, NS 22W east at Port Royal, PA. Thanks JayK for your help on this location.

That is all for now. I also spent a few days in the Altoona area. I will post those when I have more time.

Love that location at Port Royal.  We shot Nickel Plate 765 there twice in '13.

Some interesting observations about the last photo. There is white paint transfer on the coupler and the nose and the guy on the ground is packing heat. Maybe he is a police officer.

What is the story with NS 8501 and 8502? I am not familiar with either.

They are units from the NS Dash 8.5 rebuild program at Roanoke.  They are rebuilding GE Dash 8-40C's with NS-designed wide nose and cabs, upgraded engine emissions, etc.  None have been completed and put into active service yet.  The 8501 and 8502 were being shipped to Altoona, where they are currently undergoing emissions testing.
