Eastern Railroad Discussion > Tank Car Full Head End ShieldsDate: 05/03/15 07:56 Tank Car Full Head End Shields Author: NKP715 SFLX 23006 was in an EB NS train at Cresson, PA on 4/28.
Had never seen (or at least noticed) a car with this design of end shield before. The DOT SP15284 spec requires a 1/2" full head end shield, in addition to the 112 spec requirements. Reading the hazmat placards certainly provides the reason. Are there many cars with this configuration ? Searched several data bases for the SFLX reporting marks with no results. For a car designed to handle only a specific commodity, it would be a great idea. |
