956 departs Chattanooga enroute to the 2156 at the St Louis MOT.     It will that the CS to Danville ,  then Louisville , on to St Louis.

I find it interesting that water car / canteen / aux tender painted for 611 is going to Chattanooga -Roanoke via St. Louis.  Seems odd.

There's an employee appreciation event in Lafayette, IN soon, rumor is the OCS and all of the big wigs will be coming with it. I would figure for that, it would be the full OCS.

Long story short, it saves NS an extra move. The canteen, tool car and coach were all going to Roanoke, but the tool car was going to St. Louis first so everything else got to go along. The other option is to send the tool car to St. Louis on one move then the canteen and coach on another move, both of which would require special handling. This way all the special handling stuff is in one train and all, eventually, going to the same destination.

Thanks for the explanation in your reply the move makes more sense now.

Could it also mean that the 2156 will be routed thru Decatur rather than back thru Louisville and Danville on its way to Roanoke?  I know its the long way around, but an extra special move on the Louisville District and CNOTP only adds to the congestion already on both those lines.
