Leg amputated to rescue man pinned under train in NE Philly

Heard this on the radio this morning on way in.  Surgical team had to come to the accident site to amputate his leg to free him.  Don't know much more about this, but I'm sure someone here does.  Happened in NE Philadelphia early this morning.

Around the corner from me.  News articles are saying that the guy was
laying on the tracks. I'd assume either drunk/high, homeless or suicidal. 
It was the west/south bound juice train that hit him.

one message all these people aren't getting is that trains will hurt you if not kill you

That has to be traumatic for the engineer to see this unfolding.

I hope he/she recovers from the sight.

The train was the tropicana train. Wonder if he will get a bill for delaying it
