Wheeling and Lake Erie only has one left and the Dave plan...
Author: Forever-Railfan-45

Dave,my good friend who works for NS on a MOW gang, suggested we go to Bellevue, Ohio today as well as Attica Junction, Ohio.  Great weather, trains were abundant and good time with a great friend.  First three pictures are from Attica, Ohio where we observed CSX Q008 then we caught unknown CSX train with BNSF power hauling empty gons; Dave thought it may have been a "dirty dirt" train...

Picture number four is of the rail train heading north on the Sandusky District, number five is of the 64D with former UP SD90MAC then after 64D passed unknown southbound freight heads south on the Sandusky District.  Must have seen a dozen train today utilize the Sandusky District today...

Number seven is of the CSX Q010 passing a stopped Q386, and number eight is of an unknown Wheeling and Lake Erie train heading east over the bridge at Monroeville, Ohio then seen at Norwalk, Ohio in picture number nine...

Number ten is at Norwalk, Ohio again and number eleven is of the Wheeling train at Clarksfield.  This particular locomotive is a former Wisconsin Central locomotive.  The only one that the Wheeling has left in her original paint.  The only thing missing is the WC herald on the nose; Wheeling did put their speed lettering on the long hood side.  The other former WC, 6315 has been repainted into Wheeling and Lake Erie black and orange...Number twelve is of the NS 29G...

That bell between the numberboards and low headlight give away the unit's true heritage as north of the border....
Per Chris Toth's W&LE roster website, WE 6316 began life as Algoma Central 185, then became WC 6003 after the WC's takeover of ACR. The six ACR units were WC's only SD40-2s.

It's a shame they repainted one of the ex-WC units when there's so much worse-looking stuff on their roster.

I was told 6315 had some sort of major failure and the Brewster shop had just finished rebuilding another locomotive when the 6315's issues occurred, so they took it right into the shop after that for its rebuild. The 6316 also had a few issues in June after hitting a tree and damaging the nose and handrails (notice the dents on the nose and the new black front handrails in the above pictures). Currently they're going though rebuilding all five ex-GATX engines on the roster (one at a time, 7360 already rebuilt and renumebred to 6389, 7374 being rebuilt now).

Thanks for that info! Will the 7374 become 6390?
