RBBB animal cars trail on Q401 tonight
Author: ddavies

Four RBBB animal cars trail on Q401 tonight, passing Hobbs, WV, this afternoon.  Are these the elephant cars for the Red UNit circus trains that had their elephants trucked back to FL a couple of weeks ago?

The 3082 placard is most likely ethylene glycol. The anti freeze that is not good to drink.

What??

In any case, if it is the elephant cars, how sad of a photo this is.    Now, many millions of people will not be able to see the wonder that these animals are.

The closest car has the red globes on it, the next one forward has the blue. I can't determine the others, but it looks like a mix of elephant cars from both circus "units".

These four (4) Stocks photographed from the end of the train, traveled with the Red Unit Circus Train (RUCT) from the start of the 2016 season.
They are:  RBBX 63011 Red Globe, RBBX 60006 Blue Globe, RBBX 63004 Red Globe, RBBX 60002 Red Globe.
Spoke with operating officials while train was in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
CSXT to pick up the four (4) Stocks in the Morrisville/Trenton area during their stay there.
Thanks for the Photo take.
Enjoy.  All for now.  bcd9   ∑:=)

I will refrain now from commenting further............

Yes, all animals will now be TRUCKED between cities, and animal rights groups will now try to eliminate ALL other animal acts of every kind on all circuses, including RBBB starting later this year and also into the late 19-teens.  Their goal is to get rid of every type of animal act that exists in America, even rodeos out west -- all public venues where animals "are on display."  Do you want to see horses gone from Ringling' now, too?  If not, then stand up against these people who want all human-animal interaction gone from our nation NOW.  I do not apologize for stating this here:  it's beyond time for us to stand up for what we believe, and house pets are next, according to animal rights activists across the nation.  Before it's too late for us all..... LOOK at that image above again:  these rail cars are going offline for good, and the animal rights people are cheering it up and down.

Regarding the hazmat placard on the rear of the UTLX tank car on K498 of your pictures -- the first three numbers are 308 but the fourth numeral is hidden by the FRED aka EOT.  The numeral 9 at the bottom of the placard indicates that the material in the tank car is considered a "miscellaneous hazardous material".  The black and white vertical striping at the top of the placard indicate the use of Guide #171 (at least in the 2012 ERG) when you cannot read the numbers or there are no numbers visible.  The compounds listed in the 308x series that use Guide #171 include "Environmentally hazardous substance, liquid, n.o.s."; or "hazardous waste, liquid, n.o.s."; or "Other regulated substances, liquid, n.o.s."  These would have Placard 3082.

Bruce

Edit: I should have prefaced this comment by saying that DDavies had wondered about the material carried in the tank car in his captions for his pictures.

Wait, what?  I had not heard of this.

How would this be better for the animals, if it were true?    A train ride is smoother than a highway ride - by far.  Also, a rail car likely provides more space during transit than a truck would.   Please expand..

That is also why I commented.

The animals are now largely driven overland anyway now; the 4 stock cars have thus become a burden on the overall picture:  "Nothing's there that doesn't need to be there."  But then, there's the other side of the coin:

PETA and other animal rights groups have joined together (unlike the greater American public who wouldn't believe it would be possible -- yet that is exactly what has happened) to convince so many various local and regional jurisdictions that Ringling mistreats animals, that it is not longer financially feasible to play the road with the elephants.  Those towns have banned elephant acts that use bull hooks to guide the animals:  the animal rights groups say the sticks are used for purposes other than guiding - and the local mayors and other actually believed them:  Pittsburgh, Pa. is just one of many who have done so.  Now, the animal rights groups are going after Big Cat acts, and soon they'll go after all other acts including horses.  So much rides on this that even the far more safe RAIL travel has become, defacto, less lucrative and more "expensive" (--read into those quotes deeply here--) to carry the stock cars on the train, even with a Unit Train charge by the RR industry.  A few minor voices have destroyed a major part of American culture here, and they have just begun.  Money-wise, it's thought that with so much flack over just having live animals on the tour, RBBB just threw in the towel and sent the stock cars back to Florida for good:  now the animal rights people have no way to "see" what is being carried on the show, as non-descript highway trailers move the animals sort of under cover, as it were.  It makes things a bit more difficult for the protesters, however in the long run, unless the general public actually does stand up and actually fight against this national move, we'll loose everything else along with the elephants -- most likely by or before the year 2020.

While much of the above is MY OWN OPINION (there's the disclaimer for this TO.COM thread, as I am not a spokesperson for RBBB), many local animal rights people in my home state, Virginia (Norfolk, Va. is home base of PETA), say this is exactly what they have been plotting to do all along.  That's shocking, and sad, that so few can cause so much damage.....
