Southern Vacation: Day 4, Carolina Coastal and More
Author: Ohiorailfan

Day 4 of my southern trip starts in Chocowinity, NC for the Carolina Coastal railroad. The CLNA runs M-F into Chocowinity where 2 trains swap. The 120 from Wilson and the 119 from Pinetown. The morning starts with the 120 coming into town with a matched set of GP9R's. After switching the yard the 120 left and the 119 came into the yard. After leaving Chocowinity the 119 crosses over the Palmico River in Washington, NC.

After the CLNA I stopped by Harnett Transload Intermodal in Fuquay Varnia, NC. Here they have an Ex Yankeetown Dock H-12-44 that will be used at the facility

On my way to Chadbourn I stopped at Fayeteville and found another Aberdeen and Rockfish GP38

At Chadbourn, NC now Carolina Southern GP18 has been patched and is being used in regular service

This is the best modern coverage of a mostly short line/industrial vacation I can remember. This is "A+" work.

Nice report. Really neat working in the drone. I swear that last shot could be HO.

I agree that the photo has that "model railroad scene" similarity...

Looks like the CLNA takes pride in what their locomotives look like. Nice to see.

I saw several of those Coastal Carolina locomotives in their first life running on the GTW in Southeast MI. Nice to see them still earning their keep.

Nice series.

I like the way the fans have been plated over on the SD35.
