Today was Opening weekend of the regular season of the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad at Elkins, WV. The folks at the DGVR just recently repainted Western Maryland #82 at their shops at Cass, WV a few weeks ago. Today the engine was the power on their regularly scheduled Cheat Mountain Salamander Train from Elkins to Spruce and return. First shot has them pulling up to the station at Elkins to load and the 2nd shot shows them leaving town and crossing the Tygart Valley River bridge that still lightly sports "Western Maryland Railway" on the side.

Glad they painted 82..we road a couple years ago and it was getting a bit shabby. Looks like they did extensive work on the tunnel portal. What's the story there?

"smoothest" looking tunnel portal I've ever seen. Great photos.

Yes they cut the tunnel back about 6 to 10 feet where it was falling in. Then built up cages full of rock and then shot it with concrete. Just like a state road project. haha
