Iowa Traction 54, was moving as lightning flashed and thunder announced arrival of snowstorm.

Iowa Traction Railway Company, reporting mark, IATR, formerly the Iowa Traction Railroad Company is an electrically operated common carrier railroad running between Mason City and Clear Lake, Iowa. They also service Rorick Park near Mason City. Roots trace back to the Mason City and Clear Lake Railway founded in 1896. The shops are situated in Emery, the midpoint between the two namesake towns. Passenger service began on July 4, 1897. Freight has been the major source of income since the beginning and has been the only source since the charter for trolley service in Mason City expired August 30, 1936. The Mason City and Clear Lake Railway's name was revised slightly to Mason City and Clear Lake Railroad in 1950, when new owners took over.

Name changed to Iowa Terminal Railroad in 1961 when new owners from Michigan took over.

What a historical "Gem"! To think Iowa Traction is still alive is a miracle.

The title got my attention. Off topic here, but this Saturday is "Thonder Over Louisville." It's's the largest free air show in the nation, followed by the largest annual fireworks show in the nation. Metro Louisville has a population of about 1.5 million. The estimated crowd will be between 600,000 & 800,000.. The show is over the Ohio River. The thunder comes from the 60 tons of fireworks.

Getting back on topic, on the Indiana side of the river, the 14th Street bridge is about the western limit for unobstructed view of the show. It's also a good spot for catching some CSX & LIRC action.
