Tunnel in West Virginia question
Author: Cumberland

Along CSX's right-of-way there is a tunnel, between Bridgeport, WV and Despart, WV. It's eastern portal is visible from I-79.

Does this tunnel have a name? If so, what is it?

A fairly modern tunnel, built 1952-53 to replace a smaller, single track bore just to the north.
Original was called Carrs or Lodgepole Tunnel, but B&O called the new tunnel "#1" since it was the first tunnel heading west on the former Parkersburg branch.

wvncrails.org is a great place to get educated about this and other x-B&O lines in West Virginia.
