Program is well underway, first units should be completed very soon. Date: 05/11/19 03:52 Re: Canadian Pacific 7000 series SD70ACU Author: Smithy81a According to Canadian Railway Observations the first units were released a month ago and sent to McCook Illinois (former EMD Facility) for some testing

GE has built and sold a 1000 ET44'S and EMD has built just 135 SD70ACE-T4'S. Maybe caterpillar is trying to kill off the division. Wish I could buy EMD.

Still, the vast majority of the GE Tier 4 sales were early. In fact, not one new Tier 4 "GE" is on order from BNSF,CP, CSX, NS or UP. They aren't setting the world on fire either. I will grant you that Caterpillar could do better than placing EMD under the watch of that hillbilly that "runs" Progress Rail. Remember the CP units have been stored out in the open for years and will need a lot more work than the GE conversions. As for new units. EMD was late to the party with their offering and supposedly UP slowed the deliveries for EMD/PR to work out the bugs GE was well ahead getting their product ready and for awhile was the only offering in town. I like EMD/PR but there’s no denying GE has been king. Railroads would not buy them if they were useless (Forgive I know this is ground that has been covered and will be covered a 1000 times over) Posted from iPhone Date: 05/12/19 08:21 Re: Canadian Pacific 7000 series SD70ACU Author: Txtrainman60 Smithy81a Wrote:

Possibly but again remember the CP units are getting a full rebuild. The NS units where not. Only some of the NS units had engine overhauls and they only got rebuilt trucks if required (according to Altoona Works page) |
