Pull the empties in ... Shove the loads out .... 03 July 2019
Author: DTWilson

With operations winding down, take every chance to shoot CSX local B770 working the Verso Warehouse between Westernport and McCoole, MD.

1) Going to Biggs.... B770-03 heads east with seven empties passing behind the rows of homes that line Maryland Ave. in Westernport, MD.

2) At the Verso warehouse, B770-03 enters the west end of the siding and pulls into the west end of the loading dock.

3) With the empties sticking out the west end in the background the loaded boxcars start to exit the east end of the building.

... More to Follow ...

1) With the empties spotted and now cut away the power and loads exit the warehouse. They will continue west to clear the derail and switch before returning west to the yard in Beryl, WV

2) Clear the switch at the west end of the siding, B770-03 starts their return trip.

3) B770-03 westbound passing the Verso warehouse with 7 loads.

Thank you for stopping by...

Nice Report Tim.  Looks like a fairly straight forward move unless you have to respot a few cars at the dock. Still hard to believe that it's all but over for this facility. It must be particularly hard for you to witness, because you must know some of the people that will be affected.

Thanks once again Tim for the outstanding photos.  Yes, these are very sad times for your family and friends loosing their jobs.  I pray that something good will come from this in that some other company will use that facility for something else.  Have a safe Independence Day.

Hard to believe this may be the last "Going to Biggs" installment, at least with the Verso name on it.
I hope and pray for the best for your friends and family, and the other...what 600 or so...adversely affected.
Thanks for your continuing coverage. Please keep us apprised of any developments regarding the mill.

Very unfortunate about the impending closing and loss of jobs. Nice coverage of this operation. Wish some of the switching I have performed was that easy and straight forward.

Production was stopped May 30th. The official end was June 30th.
Only a handful out of 675 employees are still working. The Security Guards are working for a contractor now, a few maintenance folks are working to maintain the mill in a shutdown state, the water treatment plant employees are still working since the mill provided treated water to the towns of Luke, MD and Piedmont, WV. ... and a few at the warehouse. Once all the stock has been shipped, then those folks at the warehouse will lose their jobs.
