CSXT list these as ST70AH on the cab.

I've been told they are on a one-year lease.

Interesting that they have a horn on the long hood end as well as towards the middle front.

Clearance issues to keep them within the design envelope so that there are no issues with loadout locations. Not sure what the exact AAR Plate design code is.

From the cab back, they kinda look like something from Russia or Argentina.

CSX Service Center employee.

Maybe. Still, I am not sure this person was briefed by mechanical, purchasing or finance/treasury. These are the groups that are generally involved in locomotive acquisitions.

And why would they go through the trouble of painting them in full CSX colors....

Do you definitively know different?

No which is why I said "maybe". Read the post!

Still, CSX is a big company. Not everyone is "in the know" just because they work for them. Plenty I don't know about my own company. We don't get briefings on every subject.

Additionally, I did sell locomotives (including to CSX) at one time. I understand the process. Many times they don't want these details revealed.

I did read the post. The implication was that the 'source' information could be wrong. I was asking if you had information otherwise. Read the post!

You could be surprised who is 'in the know', even at large railroads/companies.

Cool!

You asked a question, I gave you an answer.

Yeah and many people don't know anything but that doesn't stop them from speaking with "authority". This person may have lunch every day with the VP Mechanical for CSX. I highly doubt it, but who knows.

You can read into my comment anything you like. I allowed for the fact that they may infact know what they speak of. Still, it did not come from a source that would be in the "circle of trust". Do I have my doubts? Absolutely. Nothing that has been added changes that. What is more, railroads are full of rumor and false data - just like most large organizations. Much reported as fact is infact nonsense.

As to a one year lease, time will tell.

To which I said they may be right. I am not sure how good their data may or may not be.

Progress Rail owns them.  That is shown on the blue card.

He said he had seen that they were leased on the paperwork. That must have been what he meant. Thanks for the info.
