More CSX Symbol Changes Affecting NY State
Author: RiverLineProductions

Autorack job Q261 Now originates out of Buffalo, NY and counterpart Q262 terminates there. Both previously were in and out of North Bergen, NJ. This, along with the recent abolishment of Q233/234 and Q620/621, has brought the Mohawk Sub down to 40-41 scheduled trains a day, only 32-33 of which are freight. A real shame considering how many trains that line had 5 years ago...

Somebody on CSX got a nice promotion for operating less trains and running off carload business.  Traffic down 5% is good news in their world.

Actually CSX's merchandise traffic was flat in 2019 while Class I carload volume was down overall. Translation: They did better than the rest of the industry last year.

Are the intermodal trains to/from Worcester combined with the Syracuse-Port Newark IM trains west of Syracuse (via DPU)? Or some other IM trains?

That's pretty sad! It's a race to the bottom! I don't see railroads recovering - they don't understand what shipper need. The don't even see how irrelevant they are becoming.

Piston aircraft in a jet age!
