Reading unit leading 34A and a Railfan heads up!!
Author: dschlegel

Just saw it through Hancock on the Reading Line. I would’ve seen it at Mertztown but two real class A jerk railfans (one in a white Ford Explorer, the other in a silver Honda CRV both with New York plates, one was something like “RC 316”) pulled up, and walked right in front of me to set up their ladder and tripod.

Heads up for the Reading unit and for these two jerks, they could probably use a dose of their own medicine.

I said something to the one in the CRV but he didn’t seem to care.

Heads up!!
Dan

I have had this happen to me too many times to count. Courtesy seems to not exist that much anymore. There are those who like ya said, just don't give a rats a^&. It's all about "me" and getting what I want. When I see or realize that other fans are around me I try my damndest to make sure I am not interfering with their shot.  So it goes. Thanks for the heads up, but I am nowhere near getting the shots but do know where you are talking about. Ben

Come on over to NJ.

Stepping in front of another ‘fan is a hobby to some.

I ate one’s lunch last week.

I guess it is a hobby to some.

These guys must consider it more than a hobby, they literally set up three feet in front of me and another fan who were having a conversation.

Oh well, maybe they’ll get food poisoning from a gas station egg salad sandwich on their ride back to the Empire State!!

One can only hope,
Dan

If I recall correctly, there were about 6 of us waiting on the Valley unit.

The train hits the Middlesex, NJ dragger and this fellow gets out of his car and gets as close as you can to the tracks.

Oh and by the way, steps right into our line of sight.

This has happened to me, too.  The way I handle such rude behavior is to first politely inform the jerk(s) they are ruining my shot, I was set up there before they arrived, and to please relocate.  If they ignore me or refuse to move, then wait until the train is approaching and calmly walk right in front of their cameras and set up to take the photo.  If they are shooting video, while you are standing in front of them, as soon as the train appears yell out loudly something like “Damn, that is one h**l of a train, look at that m*****ka!!  “Holy s**t, what a great shot!”

That should teach them to not be rude again.

Good advice! I can actually see myself walking into their video and scratching my butt, while saying something loud and obnoxious.

Thanks for the idea!!
