KRL and unknown Passenger railcar in South Georgia
Author: SouthEasternRailroad

This morning I was railfanning with my drone on the Fitzgerald sub and saw this train go by. I had my train radio but missed his symbol (Although I though I heard Q647). What was cool about this train was the KRL railcars near the back. However, even cooler was the rusted up passenger car behind the KRL cars. It looks very old and the only marking were spray painted CSXT 99431. I wanted to share the footage but I have some questions. First what are the KRL cars used for. Second, does anyone have any general information about the passenger car and where it is heading. I hope you guys enjoy the footage, and thanks for any answers.

Great video, twenty - eight axle flat cars in a single train.

Is this heading to Savannah?

Whatever train it is is heading to Waycross. There it will be reclassified and sent to the four winds.

The KRL cars maybe heading to Blunt Island in Jacksonville, FL to to be loaded with DOD equipment and the passenger cars looks to be a baggage dorm or dinner.

KRL stands for Kasgro Rail. Some interesting info on their website at http://www.kasgro.com/

That car came south down the CE&D sub through Vincennes and Evansville, IN earlier this week. My guess based on the spraypaint is that it's going to be rebuilt and added to either the CSX OCS or a new geometry train. But it could be something else. Who knows?

To me the passenger car resembles a former Army Medical or Transportation Corps hospital car.

DOD loads such as tanks wouldnt work on those cars unless many additional tie downs were to be installed. The DODX 40000 series 6-axle flats work for the heaviest tanks, and other equipment uses the other standard flatcars.

The passenger car isnt army, wrong ends and USA cars didnt have the end skirting. Its a heavily modified car at any rate.

Passenger car looks like an old ACL/Amtrak B-D or
lounge (Amt)
