FL: new rail and boat webcam in Fort Lauderdale
Author: Lackawanna484

The Florida East Coast Railroad's historical society mentioned a new webcam in Fort Lauderdale recently. It's on the New Rver, a few blocks south of the BrightLine station.

Busy waterway, everything from sand barges to oligarch yachts.

The bridge is usually in the up position, with a green light. When the light begins to flash red, the bridge will descend shortly.  Expect a train within 10-15 minutes.  Left is southbound, right is northbound.  The 101 train (odd number, southbound) is passing through right now.

This a nice one to watch boats on. Trains are harder to find live but the playback is nice. The camera went on line just a few weeks after Bringhtline shut down. It will be nice cam once BL gets going again.

This link is handy to keep track of the bridge.

Google Maps "street" view includes photos taken from a boat on the river at the crossing. Don't often see pictures of a bascule span from underneath.

Thanks for that link. It's fun even if you're not looking at train stuff!

When I clicked on the link, I saw a message on the bottom from Web Navigator that wanted me to follow three easy steps, hitting START, Open file and install, and enjoy your new browser.  Being leary about phishers, I am asking if this is part of the cam website or something unrelated that I don't want to get into.  When I opened the Ashland, VA webcam file several months ago, it came ready to go without a download, so I am hesitant to click on this until I hear from you guys.

You should never click on links like that. On the Fort Lauderdale New River webcam page, it's not necessary. Just load the link in the original post of this thread and enjoy the video.

You can also go directly to YouTube and search New River Florida and it will be one of the first choices.

Webcam Taxi is just a site that collects live webcams from around the world and makes them easier to find.
