Helper season on the Maryland Midland.
Author: bigsavage

The seasonal uptick in cement shipments has brought out helpers on the MMID UBHF trains to Highfield, probably for the rest of the month.
Sure is good to hear non-turbo EMDs on the x-WMRY mainline.

Locations:
Thurmont; Altamont Ave.
Debold Rd., east of Sabillasville, MD
Old Ft. Ritchie Rd., Sabillasville
Warren W. Jenkins photos

I was also visiting my favorite short line, but your photos trump (no pun intended) mine.  Allow me to add a couple of mine to your post.  Gorgeous October day, I also attempted to capture that blue Catoctin sky.
Pictures 1&2 arriving at Blue Ridge Summit.
P.S.  Did I see you at Sheetz in Thurmont?

No, I avoid that Sheetz, even when there isn't a plague, LOL.
If you see a silver Nissan pickup, that's me.

3 more:
4 SDs heading west from Thurmont
2 more from Debold Rd.

Great shots and thanks for the info. Does that train still normally run m-w-f in the morning out of Union Bridge?

Generally M-W-F, although 4-5 day service is not unusual in their busy seasons.
9 a.m. is usually departure from U.B., in Thurmont before 10, switching the NVR plant can take anywhere from 15-45 min.
