A little "Freight Action" on the WMSR - 07 Nov 2020
Author: DTWilson

Caught scanner traffic that the Western Maryland Scenic #450 was making moves around their Ridgeley, WV shop complex has us making a trip across the river to investigate.

1) WMSR #450 in the middle of some coaches, the caboose and a pair of recently painted flat cars coming west out of their shop.

2) Heading for Cumberland.... The coaches are just along for the ride, since there is no way to set them out of the way in Ridgeley. They will be left in front of the station while the #450 shoves the flat cars onto the interchange track for CSX to pick them up later.

3) The 9 yr old in the cab of WMSR #450..... not his 1st. cab ride.....

... more to follow ...

1) View of Cumberland, MD from the cab of $450 while shoving back on the Interchange Track.

2) The flats on the Interchange Track with Cumberland in the background....

Thanks,

Tim W.

Photo three is wonderful. What a great human-interest railfan photo!

Those two flat cars came off the Ringling' trains; if someone has the RBBX numbers, which were 5-digits and started with "8", I could look up the entire heritage of both cars.  They look like the two flats on the C&O steam engine move in Kentucky not too many months ago:  https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,4838104,4838104#msg-4838104

Thanks Tim for your photos.  It is always good to see what is going on in the Cumberland area and I enjoyed seeing your son enjoying his ride.
