How can a snow plow like this disap--now located
Author: PlyWoody

This is the German built Beilhack Rotary Snow Plow which can rotate and reverse its self.
I posted a while ago asking if anyone knows of its location  I never have seen a photo of it doing its job.  Last I heard it was working at Buffalo but was called to do a emergency at Cleveland.

https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,5157818,5157818#msg-5157818   Maybe a photo of the SB 1000 might help in locating this modern rotary.  I don't imagine that CSX makes a winter snow manual.  I used to publish an annual large snow manual for the entire engineering department of Conrail.

I'm amazed there aren't any videos of it on Youtube either! Very cool machines and I'm amazed they havent caught on more over in North America vs the rotary snow plows we do have left. I always enjoyed the posts by that guy here who was very passionate about how effective Beilhack blowers are elsewhere around the world and the beat down he got here on TO on the western board was snow is too different in NA for those "toys" lol. Hope he is still around on here. I even recently found a photo of the rare Beilhack unit sold to a Russian railways years back.

You can buy German HO models of this in CSX paint. Just bumped across it tonight while searching something completely different. So where is the real one? How can you hide such a beast?

Didn't know there were two of them in North America. They seem like well thought out machines, doubt they would do much good on Donner though.
Not my call though.

When I first started on TO that was one of the many threads I always grabbed my popcorn to read. That poster loved his Beilhack blowers and insisted they would work on Donner despite the many critics saying otherwise

At the time it just seemed like somebody with a passion for strange snow machines and it was an interesting comparison and a time to tell Donner Pass stories. Looking back and having met a few more TrainOrder folks it was no doubt someone from snow country having some fun with people outside of their little clic. No doubt someone with an interest in European operations and from a northern climate, wonder if Leonz had a Wisonson accent, or maybe from Fargo.

Aw, geez...

Thanks Evan,
Just bury it in a big yard far from public view!

Thanks Evan, you nailed it , right where it was supposed to be in Frontier Yard, east of Buffalo. Not sure how one finds the actual date of Google image.

There is some footage of it in the "Winter on the B&A" DVD.
