Greetings!  Where is the best place to see lots of train traffic in Harrisburg?  I can't go on the weekend, so the Harris Tower is out - no legal parking during the week.  Also can't walk too far...

The best and easiest place to view action near Harrisburg is along the Pittsburgh Line in Cove, PA. There you’ll find a wide pull-off/parking area used by many railfans in the Harrisburg area. Simply cross the Susquehanna River on 81 and take route 11/15 north (railroad west). The pull off is located about seven or so miles north after exiting 81 and between 11/15 and the tracks. There’s also a Sheetz located 1/4 mile away with bathrooms and made-to-order food.

Are you travelling by Car or Train or Bus?

Cove is OK.  If you see my post above, there are several locations around Rockville Bridge that are good.   Are you going to be in a car?  Are you doing photography, or just observing?

For traffic alone, Derry St in Hershey isn't too bad either, but not as photogenic as Cove.  You get the traffic soming up from Hagerstown that goes East as well.  Again, good parking and amenities close by.
