Hartwell's GE 125 tonner
Author: EL833

On my travels back and forth from Ohio to McDonough, Georgia for my teaching job I'll check out nearby shortlines. One such line is the Hartwell RR. Known for it's mix of EMDs in well worn previous owners paint, there is also a somewhat rare GE 125 ton center cab switcher. I say somewhat, as although there were a decent number built from 1937 untill the end of WW2, there was a later order (1964) for two units for Georgia Power that had a different body style than any previous ones. HRT 2000 is one of the former GPCO units, Plant Branch #2. I found it running on a spur just north of Bowersville, Ga in July, an interesting "critter" for sure.

Wow!  Makes you wonder what they do for parts.

If they don't break, they don't need parts. So this is interesting, I don't believe I've ever seen one of these hyper-critters! Too cool!
EL 833 what do you teach that requires so much travel? That seems extraordinary?

I teach new hires at the NS school in McDonough. Usually do a three week class then back home to Ohio for two weeks. Big push right now to add workers. I teach basics like handbrake operation, air hose and air brakes, radio communications, basic signals, switch and derail operation, EOT, etc.

Low profile cab so that it will fit under a rotary dumper?
