A few more of the Corman anniversary power
Author: srman

This afternoon I headed over the Ohio River to Louisville Ky. and Nugent Sand to see if the Corman sand train might be getting ready to head east with loads. They were'nt quite ready to head east but were making up the train for the move later this evening. Yesterday the 2023 led the empties to Louisville so today the 1973 would have the honors heading east. I know several of us might not care for the nose emblem but it is Mr. Corman's railroad and we all have to accept what we are given. The 1973 was the former NS SD70M 2608.

Obviously my opinion, but it's too bad they can't get rid of the artwork on the nose. It looks like a goofy mustache from all angles except up close.

Just my opinion, but the RJ Corman nose logo artwork looks similar to that found on the album cover of folk-rock band McKendree Spring's 1972 release "Tracks".  It appears to be a stylized representation of an FEC E-unit.  YMMV.

I have to agree with swaool that that does look like a representation of a FEC E unit.

When I first saw that nose logo many years ago, I was wondering what in the world it was. From a distance, I am in agreement that it looks horrible. For my two cents, I think a large RJC would look better there. At least everyone would know what it is.

With all due respect to Rick Corman, I think everything he did, before his untimely death, was fantastic, great and certainly, very sucessful. The only miss-step was the nose logo. The first time I saw it, it looked like heavy lipstick painted lips! But then again like some sort of psuedo moustache. I hesitate to say, something else, not sure what, would better represent Rick's empire.
My personal feeling.

I dunno… Maybe everyone is seeing this the wrong way. Perhaps Corman simply has a sense of humor and enjoys the attention. He may have been the one in middle school who drew mustaches on every portrait photo. I mean, who among us doesn’t have “that friend”?

Nice catch; agree about the nose emblem, too.

haha - It's also kinda like having a tatoo of someone else's face on your face.
