Eastern Railroad Discussion > CSX Seaboard heritage unit reportedly derailed in eastern VADate: 09/28/24 13:21 CSX Seaboard heritage unit reportedly derailed in eastern VA Author: rbx551985 Railfan reports in eastern Virginia state CSX's Seaboard heritage engine derailed not long before 4pm today after striking downed trees near "Oriana" - which is at Denbigh, Va., about half way between Newport News and Williamsburg, Va. I do not know any details nor if the train was traveling at speed or at slower speeds. The location is just east of the newly-opened Amtrak station on CSX's Peninsula Subdivision, the line eastward out of Richmond toward Newport News, Va.
Confirmed. Lead truck off the rails, train still standing. Damage to front of engine 1900. Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 09/28/24 13:57 by rbx551985. Thanks Andy Date: 09/30/24 07:16 Re: CSX Seaboard heritage unit reportedly derailed in eastern VA Author: engineerinvirginia Probaly grab irons smashed in....happens all the time...easy fix. Might be ditch lights broke out too. But that happens all the time....we hit trees..it comes the territory...we don't often get on the ground however.
