4 coaches seen on rear of CSX M416 tonight in Richmond VA, arriving there at 7:40om. Rumor has their destination as Chicago Or perhaps Cumberland MD, but that's not confirmed. 1 of them is IC, 1 is a round end observation and 1 is a very old heavy weight car..... WMSX marks on 3 cars and GSJX marks on 1. I presume the former is Western Maryland Scenic. WMSX 8554 ex-Amtrak, 3320 in IC livery, GSJX 48 (?) round end observation, and WMSX 34 (?) heavy-weight. Train departed Richmond at 9:45pm.

any cams on the route?  slrg cars going to?

It's a long shot but Buckingham Branch has had good success with their excursions on the North Mountain sub...I am pretty sure they could fill more coaches if they had them...

There's one in Ashland VA, north of Richmond.  It can be rewound for the past 12 hours.

I rewound the tape but did not see any freights with the four passenger cars.  I was impressed with the quantity of freight trains on a Sunday in both directions.  Interestingly, none of the Amtrak trains I saw had Charger units - all P42's including the s/b Auto Train with three of them.

polar train needing more cars, some cars?

Sounds like cars owned by Great Scenic Railway Journeys. About three of their cars were leased to the 611 excursions on the Bukingham Branch last year. I did recently heard that the Western Maryland Scenic Railway leased an ex-NYC round-end observation also owned by them and they also leased the ex-ATSF dome that's already on their property now.

Train departed Richmond VA at 9:45pm. I edited the initial post with the cars' reporting marks.

GSJX 48 , BUDD Co. built  tav/lng/obs-new for the NYC is planned to become "Lovers Leap'.  The 48 is listed as owned by Great Railway Journeys and leased to WMSR.  Recently WMSR repainted former ATSF 501 as "Mountain Vista" and also a UP 10/6 sleeper that had the roomettes removed and replaced with a lounge  , Pacific Waters ??

These four cars appeared on the Virtual Railfan Cumberland South cam this afternoon (November 19th) and were shoved onto the WMSR lead in Cumberland at 16:12 EST.
