G scale salt hauler

I hate lugging those 40 pound bags of water softener salt downstairs. Has anybody ever used G scale to haul ore cars from the garage, spiral down into the basement, and spot them at a yard next to the softener for hand unloading? This would require regular "operating sessions" to keep the water soft. Can you imagine the wife asking you to "run your train" so she could do the laundry, etc.

I'm in the final development stages of such a system, having built a unloader over the salt tank of the softener. I'm not extending the line all the way to the garage, however.

Next phase will be to develop a working car loading facility.

I have a simulated scale in the yard near the unloader, over which each car will have to be spotted for "weighing".

Once I've finished the development work, I'll go ahead and build more detailed working models.

I've standardized on Delton/AristoCraft ore cars for hauling.

So far, I've moved 120 pounds this way.

For all the work that would take to pull off, I'll lug the bags myself.
