Southland trip Part 2
Author: dmaffei

The RPM meet was a fun day Sat, but the highlight for me personally was visiting one of the presenters layout. Presenter Tim D's home layout is based on a 1970's post BN merger period in the Pacific Northwest. A CTC controlled layout with operating signals and semaphores. The level of detail and perfection is most impressive. DCC controlled F units with howling dynamic brakes and moaning 567 prime movers...Wow! How cool is that.
Here are some photos of Tim and friends work. Had a great visit.

Wow. Tim's layout has made some great strides since I last visited a few years ago. It was already impressive even then. Positively stunning now. The F-units look absolutely terrific too. Thanks for sharing Dave.

Cheers,
Harry

My favorites are the AMC Gremlins(or are they Pacers?) at the diner.

There's more video footage of that layout on BLMA's website. Craig shot some video of his TopGon's behind a couple of custom built NS C40-9W's from Paul F @ DW. Link is below.

I see one blue AMC gremlin up front next to the black convertible, and two honda civics to the side of the restaurant. One brown civic and another blue one in the background. All were models/toys produced by "Fresh Cherries".

The photos are fantastic, they just don't quite match up to being there! Personally, I really enjoyed watching the operating semaphores, even if it was just a cab-hop. Now just need some MRL blue running around there...

I asked Jim about that. He said that they do run SP SD45T-2s.Back in the 70's SP tested Locotrol equipped BN stuff in southern Ca. and SP sent T-2s to run on the BN. I remember that...
Glad everyone enjoyed the photos, but they don't do the layout justice.
I'll try to post a few more when I have time.
