Roundhouse HO scale boxcab diesel

Has anyone repowered a Roundhouse Boxcab diesel? Mine doesn't run well and the gearing is awful. I tried to fit a bachmann 44tonner chassis but it needs modifications.

NWSL also just came out with the "Stanton Drive" which is a self contained motor, drive with truck that might be used if you want to repower it.
