Some New Scenery on the California Southern
Author: MrMRL

My local HO scale train club, (the California Southern MRRC in Norwalk, CA...) has kinda worked itself into a layout construction blitz the last couple weeks. A couple areas that are showing recent signs of improvement are highlighted below.

1. We've got ourselves a nice little trailer park now with a chromatic string of those oh so '50s single-wides. The trailers are by IMEX Model Company, the two grey structure kits on each side are by AM Models/Tomar.

2. Along the background and corner of the area, a new industry is being pieced together. Don't have a name for it yet, but so far it's a combination of two large Walthers structures. The building backdrop consists of most of the large wall sections of the Walthers Cornerstone Series Superior Paper Mill, the silos out in front of the track are the Walthers Plastic Pellet Transfer facility. The background building extends almost 42" out from the corner of the layout scene. More assembly and painting is needed for the large scene, obviously still in the rough. Gonna be some large manufacturing plant with an adjoining shipping building and warehouse.

I'm more impressed with those Pine side panels I can see in the first shot.

oh yeah... 3/4" kiln-dried pine board, with the tops rounded for a nicer finish. Sure, a little beefier than your typical masonite. Remember, this is a club layout it has to be built club proof. :D

You should make that company in the corner a plastic packaging company. They could make Saran Plastic wrap or Glad Freezer bags or trash bags. That kind of rail served plant is quite common.

Also, your trailer park isn't nearly trashy enough. Here are some pics for inspiration ;^P

The ardour in the last photo must be pretty strong to overcome the odour. Trying out my french spelling here.

Does anyone make Nascar beach towels in HO scale? That would provide some nice window treatments for those trailers....

That looks a LOT like a scene from Reno 911.... LOL! Good work there on those details, including the (--ahem--) outhouse scene.

How do you get all the way over in the corner, ( photo 2) to actually work on the scenery?? It looks like it would be hard to lean over that far.
