Model Railroading > Preserving the SP in HO scale: 3 Barrels & 16 CylindersDate: 10/01/13 14:06 Preserving the SP in HO scale: 3 Barrels & 16 Cylinders Author: P5r24 In Joe Strapac's 1952-82 Southern Pacific Review
pages 22 & 112 show some dramatic photos of Diesel power helping steam locomotives lift their trains up two heavy mainline grades on the S.P.on opposite ends of the system: Beaumont Hill Ca.and the Cascade route out of Dunsmuir Ca. Leaning on my modelers license once again- In these three views we catch a brand new EMD F7a as Extra 6232 east drifting down off the hill helping veteran 3 cylinder 4-10-2 S.P.5018 on the point of a heavy mixed drag freight. Two Vanguards of motive power- the old and the new working side by side moving freight for the mighty S.P. Gary Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/01/13 14:06 by P5r24.
