Preserving the SP in HO scale: 3 Barrels & 16 Cylinders
Author: P5r24

In Joe Strapac's 1952-82 Southern Pacific Review
pages 22 & 112 show some dramatic photos of Diesel
power helping steam locomotives lift their trains up
two heavy mainline grades on the S.P.on opposite ends of the system:

Beaumont Hill Ca.and the Cascade route out of Dunsmuir Ca.

Leaning on my modelers license once again-

In these three views we catch a brand new EMD F7a as Extra 6232 east drifting down off
the hill helping veteran 3 cylinder 4-10-2 S.P.5018 on the point of a heavy mixed drag freight.

Two Vanguards of motive power-
the old and the new working side by side
moving freight for the mighty S.P.

Great pictures but the load on the flatcar doesn't look like it has been properly tied down! 8^}

Those Joshua trees are the handy work of T.O.s Mason Clark.

He had them for sale on a web site at one time but I can't seem to find it on here?
Best looking scale Joshua trees on the market!
