Just a quick question to check my math.
I want to cut up a large amount of ties, HO Scale.

Tie sizes changed over time and they vary by type of track. What year are you modeling? Heavy-haul mainline, light mainline, branch, siding or yard?

According to my calipers 3/32" converts to 8" HO scale. That is a bit light for today's standards. Through the 1970s and well into the 2000s ties were 10x8 and 10x10 so you might want to go with 7/64 or 1/8.

Have you measured any commercial loose ties or plastic ties on flex track? The Central Valley switch kit or flex track kit ties were probably thoroughly researched.

9" wide x 7" high is the common tie size these days.

Lots of 8'6" also. 10 at grade crossings using panels.
