Because there are no double-plug-door "Railbox" cars. http://www.ttx.com/equipment/listingtype/boxcars.aspx Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/23/14 08:32 by toledopatch. Those DD Railbox cars are the "ABOX" cars, and there are lots of those running around N. America in the 50,000-series road numbers. Is THIS type of D-Door, 50-ft. "Railbox" boxcar what the initial post was asking about? There are indeed HO scale models of the ABOX cars; I think Athearn or some other makers have them out in basic kit form, and perhaps others in finished form. Here are images of two of the prototypes: http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=39753 ~~~AND~~~ http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=31618 Edited 2 time(s). If a TBOX is in fact what he wants, I suspect he's inquiring about dealers that have them in stock, since Athearn's Web site lists them as sold out. Date: 10/23/14 11:52 Re: Railbox Author: funnelfan Well, companies have made double plug door Railboxes that have no prototype in the real world;

Is it more 'accurate' than before? Those things tended to stick out from the side of the train.
The ExactRail ABOX kicked butt, not sure when that one will come around again. Date: 10/24/14 05:17 Re: Railbox Author: SPDRGWfan TCnR Wrote:

I doubt it, according to Dave it was too short in length, too wide, and with an incorrect roof; that seems like it require a whole new mold to fix. But maybe someone can confirm. Cheers, Jim Fitch |
