Model Railroading > Here's a simple question about HO Sound diesel locos...Date: 12/10/14 13:46 Here's a simple question about HO Sound diesel locos... Author: HRGXguy Who would you say has the best sound for EMD 567s (GP9s, etc.)?
Just wondering, so I thought I'd ask. HRGXguy, Remembering the roar of those old MBTA/PC GP9s hauling commuters up Sharon Hill, coming home from Boston's South Station.... Date: 12/10/14 14:01 Re: Here's a simple question about HO Sound diesel loco Author: kgmontreal ESU Loksound without a doubt.
KG Date: 12/10/14 15:12 Re: Here's a simple question about HO Sound diesel loco Author: RioGrandeFan Yes, the new LokSound EMD 567 sound file is incredible. Regarded by many that run F units in tourist operation or in museums as, "that sound puts me back in the cab".
You'll also get the best motor control in the industry and 6 functions for lighting. Lee Ryan - Rio Grande Fan Denver, CO Date: 12/10/14 15:19 Re: Here's a simple question about HO Sound diesel loco Author: rschonfelder Is that what Rapido is using? Their units sound great; and this coming from a person who doesn't favour sound in general.

If you google TCS WOW Sound there are Utube vids of the product. If anything like their steam WoW Sound decoder, its a home run. I have not heard it in person but MKT103 has, maybe he will "chime" in? Thank you, Thank you, I'll be here all week..... Are they really that much better then the Tsunami? Chris Date: 12/10/14 17:59 Re: Here's a simple question about HO Sound diesel loco Author: barrydraper rschonfelder Wrote:

Rapido's use did a lot to push this new file up in priority for completion by ESU. I have a Tsunami I never installed because I need 6 light functions it doesn't have: clear Mars, red Mars, front headlight, rear headlight, number boards and step lights, and clear marker lights.
Date: 12/10/14 21:33 Re: Here's a simple question about HO Sound diesel loco Author: KA7008 It's like this - you can probably get a Tsunami for about 20% less than a Loksound ESU. The Tsunami sound is VERY good while possibly the ESU sounds about 20% better.
We run both. It's nice to have a slight variation when you have a large fleet. Date: 12/10/14 22:41 Re: Here's a simple question about HO Sound diesel loco Author: dh1205 KA7008 Wrote:

The Loksound Select decoder is the same price as a Tsunami and it has 6 function outputs. When most people think of the Loksound decoders they are thinking about the 4.0 decoder. The 4.0 is the one that allows you to put your own sound recordings on it. Most people don't need that feature so the Select is the better choice for them. The Select still allows you to put any of the Loksound Select sound files on it. So if you buy an Alco 251 then decide you want to put it in an EMD. You can find someone with a Lok Programmer and change the sound. It also allows you to update your decoder if they would release a better sound file in the future. So you're not stuck with one sound like you are with the Tsunami, this feature and the better motor control are why I prefer the Loksound decoders.
