Locomotive Gear Lubricants?
Author: pwh

Walthers is advertising Excelle Lubricants as a gear lubricant. Is this a good lubricant for gears for P2K, Athearn, Atlas, etc? Any other recomendations for lubs?
Thanks.

Yes, Labelle are lightweight gear oils designed for small things like our model trains.  Like all lubricants, use sparingly.

I have had good luck with both Excelle and Labelle.

I tried a product called Nano-oil on my older brass engines and I could tell an immediate difference in noise reduction and performance.

Check ebay for a product called Liquid Bearing, I have used this for years with a great deal of satisfaction.
 Comes with a 1", 1.5"and a 3" needle.
