A layout module completed
Author: CNW

Is a layout ever really finished?  It seems we can always find additional details to add; grass, trees, structures etc.  Back in 2009, I tore down and rebuilt a section of my HO layout.  My goal was to model a long tangent piece of railroad with a sag and a parallel highway, which is typical of the C&NW line I’m modeling in southern Minnesota.  I recently added the painted backdrop, static grass and ground foam.  This is what I’m calling finished.  Let’s hop in the car and follow train 482 eastbound along US 14.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dennis

One of the very few times I've seen somebody model a sag. Which is amazing considering how common they are.

Very, very nice.... Several of those images pass the "first impressions" test with flying colors, the only give-away being breaks in the backdrop. Excellent work, Dennis!

Dennis, some of the most realistic modeling I've ever seen.  Well done is an understatement.  Thanks for sharing your superb work.

I recall your first posting when you had the bare benchwork of that sag with track on.  I thought the very same thing as was said above; ie that few people model that feature and yet, it s something which very much elicits a prototype realism.

I will add that your road, not seen before, looks fantastic as well.

Dennis, that's the best. So relatable, to fans, railroaders, or the non-fan citizen!

As always, you capture the essence and the nuance all at once. Wonderful work...
