Boeing fuselage shipments, before shrink wrap
Author: march_hare

Somebody was looking for Boeing shipment photos a couple weeks ago. Just found this one in the trade box. No date or location given, but it appears to be around Hauser ID on a summer trip to the NMRA convention in Seattle, which would make it July 2004.

You might be thinking of the photo request I put on the nostalgia board a couple weeks ago. I was looking for the pre-2000 shipments where the nose and tail sections were shipped in wraps on 60' flatcars with dual brush guards. Like this photo below.

Thank you.  That will help with making the model decals.

Hi Ted,

I missed your prior request.  Here's a nose section at Laurel Montana on 8-21-1991.
Hope this helps.

The image shown is the 41 section for either a Boeing 757-200 or -300, not a Boeing 737.  These were a little more rare as tthere are a total of 1050 757's built vs.over 9500 737's delivered and close to 5000 more on order.  I always thought the 757 was the most graceful looking airliner that Boeing ever built.

Until you look at the long skinny "bird legs" landing gear they had to use to get enough ground clearance for the engines.

In case it got missed in the last post about the Boeings, Andrew Klamka has a trio of books about shipping planes on trains.  The post-WW2 to modern is in volume three.
The page here is for Volume 2 but the ordering info is the same for volume 3, 500 plus pages of airplane on train interestingness.

That photo is a huge help, exactly the car I wanted to model.

Hopefully minus the "bad order" tags ;-)

liked the 757, with it's ground clearance, also liked the stretched dc-8
