Proto SD-7 Tracking Problem
Author: ncng9

I have noticed that my proto SD-7's trucks seem a little tight.. I seem to remember someone had a link a while back for a procedure to fix a flaw in the trucks that was causing these units to derail. Atleast I believe someone posted a link or was I day dreaming again?

It's the worm gear cover that has to have the small tabs filed down a bit to allow a 3-point suspension.

I used to have a P2k SD9 with the same problem. I solved the fault by giving the truck a bit more free movement. I also noticed that on tight curves the brake hangers fouled the steps when the truck swung. I fixed that by filing the back of the steps and the front of the brake hangers to give a bit more clearance.

Your suggestion worked.. I will try to get a photo of the completed unit up later this week for all to see.

Thanks again,
