Athearn announcements are up...

So they list a Halloween SP GP9. How many did SP do this way? The Halloween F-units sold out immediately at my store. Trying to gauge how similar the Geeps in this scheme would be...

The Gunderson TBOX boxcars are numbered for NSC and Trinity built boxcars. If the boxcar costs $40, it should be correct.

Now that Athearn has come around to the LED feature, it would be nice if they sold a "retro lighting kit" which would include the lens filament pieces and LED to replace the miniature bulbs. Even if they just produced the headlight inserts for sale to be applied to the products which they sold in the past.

One list is here, but 5665 doesn't seem to appear. Doesn't mean Athearn didn't have a good source to confirm 5665:

The four Halloween passenger units also listed on this site have ash can headlights and steam generators. Interesting that four units were done thay way; San Francisco HQ management could just go down to the depot to judge the new paint schemes on Commute and passenger units, and did.

More noteworthy to me in this release are the Black Widow units with full light package and stacked road name. That's a really functional look for anyone doing the 1960s and even into the 1970s; those units were everywhere.

A Genesis quality SD7/9 (and others) platform is LONG overdue.

I was told Athearn plans to release LED lights

Ya its funny, people here on TO complained that Athearn did a paint job of a F unit that there were very few of. Eastern modelers unhappy about yet another SP paint. But this is what keeps athearn in business. The Halloween F's sold out extremely quick. I picked up 6 of them and have been getting offers for them ever since. Sad part is I bought them not for that paint job, but the details, they are all due to be stripped.
