Model Railroading > Christmas Train SetsDate: 08/09/18 16:07 Christmas Train Sets Author: mahnud With a 2year old grand daughter now in the picture, I was hoping for suggestions for something in the O, S, G, range set for the library to run around the tree or piano. We have an HO Polar Express, but I think it is too fragile to let a 2 year old grab. Need to buy soon. Limited shopping days to Christmas.

I can deal with 2 hours travel or the internet. I was hoping for suggestions for something other than promoted on Amazon.

This 1661 still runs (with care). I moved to HO in 1950 and know I am back to Lionel (Too many birthdays). wag216 (82 and still running trains)

So far most interesting set is eztec set on Amazon, My wife and I saw a nice large scale train at the WGH Show in Houston earlier this year I was trying to remember. It was not Lionel or Lionel/American Flyer. It was perhaps G from Europe? Polar Express in O might be ok, but I would prefer larger with carols/music, rather than dialogue.

Look for photos of the slide shoes on the loco to determine amount of usage and look for a lightly used set. These will run forever and handle the abuse of small children. Date: 08/09/18 20:24 Re: Christmas Train Sets Author: wpdude We have a large Lionel battery powered set that plays Christmas carols around our tree.Every year it gets knocked off the track by kids and cats and , umm, sometimes grown ups. Most of you know i'm in HO, but this set is bigger than O, takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!
