Model Railroading > MWCX ex Peavey Covered Hopper

 Here's a modern day covered hopper that I recently completed. It started as a special run Intermountain car that I found on Ebay. Taking a cue from MrMRL ( a member on this site) I removed the outlet gates and replaced them with some made by Tangent. I also added angle iron across the top cords as a stiffener. Some sloppy patches of gray paint was used to cover the old reporting marks and then new reporting marks were added. The new marks are not perfectly in line and straight---for that matter neither is the prototype. As usual the graffiti artists and taggers couldn't leave this car alone.......

I think that is one of your best yet. The fading is perfect and the underbody grime is excellent too, something that is so much more noticeable on those.

Nice work and a good looking car for modeling the modern era.

 Thanks for the compliments! I for one would like to see someone make quality decals for Midwest Railcar (MWCX) or have a manufacturer add this to their painted line. The lettering style could be offered in either futura (which is what I used) or italic font---both would be correct.  Some cars are full repaints---others are just patch jobs. For added variety some full repaints have logos as well.
